Antonio Raíllo’s late goal is the difference as we secure an important three points
Antonio Raíllo’s 85th minute winner is the difference as we secured an important three points with a 1-0 victory against Granada.
Javier Aguirre started Dani Rodríguez in midfield following his contract renewal earlier in the week while Gio Gonzalez featured at right back.
Cyle Larin had our first opportunity of the game when he managed to roll his marker in the box and make space for a shot, but his effort went over the bar in the 10th minute.
Vedat Muriqi was next to try his luck when he latched onto a loose ball and forced Batalla into a fine save.
A positive first half ended with Dani Rodríguez getting fed the ball on the edge of the box and just dragging his shot wide of the far post.
Raīllo thought he had given us the lead in the 51st minute when he climbed highest to head home from a set-piece, but the offside flag ruled out the goal.
Muriqi came close with another header in the 78th minute but his effort was denied by another acrobatic stop.
Batalla was called into action minutes later when he had to get down low to deny Darder and then Muriqis follow up on the edge of the box.
We continued to pile the pressure on the visitors as Batalla was required to make another fine save to deny Raíllo at a corner.
Our defender would not need another invitation and scored the winner in the 85th minute when he climbed highest to head home from a corner as we saw the game out to claim an important three points in our fight for survival.
