RCD Mallorca, as a result of the collaboration agreement signed with the Japanese team Shimizu S-Pulse, has had the presence of the Japanese footballer Riku Gunji from 29th April until last Friday, 10th May, who has been training with the Mallorca reserve team with the aim of developing and strengthening his skills and conditions.
Gunji has not only been able to train in the facilities of the Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio, but he has also had the opportunity to meet players from the first team of Mallorca such as Vedat Muriqi, Sergi Darder, Antonio Raíllo or Abdón Prats, with whom he exchanged a shirt. In addition, the Japanese striker has experienced what it is like to live a LaLiga match in the PreZero Tunnel Club at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. It was in the match against Atlético de Madrid.
Gunji has also visited several of the most emblematic places in the capital of Mallorca, Palma, such as La Seu, the Castell de Bellver, the Plaza de las Tortugas or the old town. As if that wasn't enough, the 18-year-old footballer taught the reserve team players a few phrases in Japanese and in turn, he learned expressions in Spanish and Mallorcan.
In December 2022, RCD Mallorca and Shimizu S-PULSE signed a collaboration agreement in terms of training football, communication and commercial aspects. All with the aim of continuing to strengthen ties with Japan.
