Johan Mojica’s dramatic winner in the 91st minute gives us the three points
Johan Mojica’s 91tst minute winner saw us beat UD Las Palmas 3-2 in dramatic fashion after Dani Rodriguez and Robert Navarro scored in an action-packed second half.
Jagoba Arrasate handed Mateu Jaume his debut at right back while Dani Rodríguez was selected to play off of Vedat Muriqi in the absence of Cyle Larin.
Chances were few and far between throughout the first half as neither side were able to get a sight at goal.
The second half would not follow the same script and we couldn’t have wished for a better restart as Dani Rodríguez poked home from close range a minute after the break having reacted first to a loose ball in the box.
We were in the ascendancy after the opener and doubled our lead 10 minutes later when Mojica’s cross found Navarro alone in the box who made no mistake from 12 yards out.
The hosts would set up an intense fine 15 minutes as Dário Essugo’s deflected strike from distance found the bottom corner to pull one back.
UD Las Palmas would level in the 83rd minute as Fabio Silva made no mistake from the penalty spot following a handball from Vedat Muriqi.
Things would go from bad to worse for as our striker received his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the 86th minute.
The drama would not stop and in the 91st minute Mojica fired home with an unstoppable strike from a direct free-kick inside the box.
