Martin Valjent, Javier Aguirre, Antonio Sánchez and Abdón Prats were on post-match media duties after we beat Girona CF 3-2 to book our place in the Copa del Rey semi finals. Find out what our stars and the boss had to say below:
Martin Valjent
"I feel absolute happiness, seeing the fans with such enthusiasm. It has been a fantastic night and we are very happy to move on to the next round and give our people one more cup game at home."
"I think the first half went perfectly for us. What we have analysed we have seen and at the end in the duels, the intensity and the motivation was there for the Copa del Rey – that was clear in the first half. The second half was different, but we were able to suffer very well together and the crowd made it like fortress."
Javier Aguirre
"I think it was a very good start on our part. We maintained a high competitive tempo and neutralised a great Girona side. The red card made the final result very difficult for us."
"It's the team that puts in the most crosses in the whole league and it's the team that scores the most goals in the whole league. A team that plays with its heart and subdues you – imagine facing that but with ten men."
"We will try, for the next game, to try to refresh people to get back to the league because in the league you have to come back to form."
"The team met expectations, but I think that for the moment all we have to do is wait and focus on the league."
Antonio Sánchez
"I ended up quite tired. In the end, they demanded a lot from us. The blow I had on my knee scared me because I kept feeling sore, but well it was worth it."
"There are two games. After the red card, they obviously pegged us back, we suffered and they scored the second goal. But I think we have to give a lot of credit to the first half of the match because Girona, which is the team with the most goals in the league, practically didn't generate chances against us."
"The truth is that we are happy. Now we have to celebrate and enjoy the moment, but knowing that in a couple of days we have the league which in the end is really important.”
Abdón Prats
"Since we finished the match in Villarreal I have been focused on this match. When we played here at home, I knew it would be a special evening and so it has been. No matter the team or the opponent, if the team is focused, we are a very difficult opponent to beat."
"Thank God, I already know nights like these. Today there was as a spectacular moon as in Sant Joan. I'm very happy to be able to get our hopes up with our people. It is something very magical.”
"The first goal I scored was a rebound and I was concentrated and at the end I knew that if I hit it with my inside instep and it went to goal it would be a goal. The goalkeeper didn't expect it and it helped us to score the second."
"The commitment comes from 2017 when I arrived. We created a very good base. The club has done a great job and then the team wings have been created from that base."
