An Abdón Prats brace and goals from Javi Llabrés and Samu Costa gives us a friendly win
An Abdón Prats brace and goals from Javi Llabrés and Samu Costa gave us a 4-1 victory against Portuguese side Boavista in a behind closed doors friendly during the international break.
We got off to a dream start when Abdòn Prats headed home in the eighth minute to give us the lead.
Maintaining possession and looking the better side, our promising play was rewarded in the 42nd minute when Llarbes finished off an incisive counter-attack on the stroke of half-time.
Abdòn Prats struck again shortly after the restart when he latched onto Sergi Darder’s pass, rounded the goalkeeper and found the back of the net.
Costa completed the scoring in the 54th minute when he climbed highest to nod the ball past the outstretched visiting goalkeeper for our fourth of the afternoon.
The visitors managed to pull one back before full time, but we saw out our victory as as we prepare for our trip to the Wanda Metropolitano for a clash with Atletico Madrid once domestic football resumes.
Sergi Darder spoke with club media after the game to evaluate the match:
"Anything that is competing and winning is good. We know that winning is a habit and right now we are doing things to win but we are not winning. We are confident that when we manage to be tighter and be more effective there will be a good winning streak.
"Atletico are a team with an incredible run at home, but Mallorca won there two years ago, have always competed and we are eager and confident.
"For me, coming back from being out of action, these matches Boavista are life. Luckily, I am recovering physically and hopefully from now on we will see the Sergi who came here for a reason.
"Since we were little we understand each other very well (Abdón and Sergi). We have to take advantage of that understanding.”
