Jaume Tovar: ‘This year we are all rowing in the right direction and this is the way to go’
The RCD Mallorca B captain analysed our start to the league campaign
Jaume Tovar says he and his RCD Mallorca B team-mates are keen to push on from their good start to the domestic campaign and fight for promotion.
With a five-point lead on second place in the Tercera División Balear and enjoying a six-game winning streak, the striker believes the sky is the limit after recovering from a tough start.
"The beginning was difficult, but now we are in a good moment,” he told club media. “It's true that of the seven victories, five have only been by one goal. We have suffered a little, but that's where it shows that we want to be at the top.
"I was left annoyed by the pandemic season from the previous year. We are all fighting for the same thing and we must stay focused. The subsidiary of a LaLiga team has to be higher up [the footballing pyramid] and we will fight for it."
"The team has not changed much and it shows. This year we are all rowing together and this is the way forward. It has been easy to adapt.”
Our attacking trio of Tovar, Pablo Gálvez and Ibra Diabaté have scored 13 goals in 10 games, and with a visit to last season’s promotion play-off sami-finalists Platges de Calvià next up for our academy side, the RCD Mallorca B captain knows they will have to be at their best to get a result.
"We know they want revenge, but we will go all out,” he continued. “They are very strong up front, with players of great quality in the attacking zone. They have been finishing in the top positions for many years. It will be complicated.
"We are three strikers of the same profile and it is true that at the beginning it was difficult for us to understand each other because we did pre-season with the first team – and there is the fact that Gálvez stayed longer with them.
“We could not train almost together, but now we understand each other better and we have to continue with this form.”
